

Reverend Robert Steadman, age 86, of Kingsport, entered into rest on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Holston Valley Medical Center. Mr. Steadman was a native of Sullivan County and the son of the late Nelson and Stacie Steadman. He was the first pastor of Lone Star Missionary Baptist Church and attended Sunrise Baptist Church. Mr. Steadman proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII in the 11th Airborne as a paratrooper. He was a devoted husband and father and loved to serve the Lord.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Betty Eleen Steadman in 2010; a great grandson, Tanner Chase Kitts; brother, Johnny Wayne Steadman; and sisters: Betty Steadman, Thelma “Tootsie” Boyer and Jean Holden.
Survivors include: daughters: Terri Chase and husband Ronnie, Blountville and Rhonda Copas and husband Mark, Abingdon, VA.; sons: Rick Steadman, Blountville and Tim Steadman and wife Viorica, Kingsport; grandchildren: Delilah Kitts, Chris Steadman, Josh Steadman, Celsea Copas, Maia Steadman, Cory Lee Steadman and Caleb Copas; great grandchildren: Hannah and Lauren Kitts; brothers: J.C. Steadman, J.D. Steadman and Orville Steadman; sister, Barbara Morelock, along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 15, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Mark Copas and Kelly Dykes, officiating. Music will be under the direction of his family. Interment will be held on Sunday, December 16, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in East Lawn Memorial Park. Everyone is asked to assemble at the gravesite by 10:45 a.m. for the service. Pallbearers will be Dennis Fields, Scott Steadman, Cory Lee Steadman, Josh Steadman, Chris Steadman and Caleb Copas. Honorary pallbearers are Ronnie Chase , Steve Holden and Michael Kitts.
