Shirley Ann Shaffer

Mrs. Shaffer was born on June 4, 1931 in Newport, TN. She was a member of Cassidy United Methodist Church in the community of Indian Springs for over 48 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and daughter who was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew her. She spent the majority of her time working in the church garden; was a master gardener and flower arrangement designer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Shaffer and her parents, Allen and Isa B. Hurst.

She is survived by a son, Thomas Allyn Shaffer of Blountville; daughter and son-in-law, Kristen Virginia and Tahir Kelleci of Oak Ridge, TN; two sisters: Nancy Johnson of Newport, TN and Peggy Johnson of Fairfax, VA; two brothers: Harold Hurst and Bob Hurst, both of Newport, TN and one granddaughter, Rachel Leigha Sammons of Oak Ridge, TN along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 22, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Cassidy United Methodist Church. The Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Chuck Griffin, officiating. Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Union Cemetery, 420 Mineral Street, Newport, TN.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cassidy United Methodist Church, 5801 Memorial Blvd, Kingsport, TN, 37617.
