Tilmer Lee Wright, 86, went to be with the Lord during the early morning hours of Sunday (July 7, 2019) surrounded by his loving family. Tilmer was born on September 9, 1932 in Kingsport, TN to the late Troy Canary & Mattie Mae (Joyner) Wright.
Tilmer was a devoted Christian full of unconditional love. He was a member of Hilltop Mission Church where he served as a Sunday School Teacher and was also a member of the Hilltop Mission Quartet. He unselfishly served our country in the United States Navy. He was a devoted employee of AGC for over 30 years. He loved sharing Jesus’s love with others and also woodworking. Tilmer was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend; he will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wives, Ada Wright (52 years) and Onie Wright (11 years), daughter, Donna Hammonds; brother, Zack Wright; sister, Jean Ingram; and great-grandson, Arie Hite.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Lisa Stewart & husband Sam; son, Tilmer “Tim” Wright, Jr. & wife Ellen; five grandchildren, Maisyn, Madisyn, Stephanie, Jared, and Audrey; one great-grandson, Harper Hite; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday (July 9, 2019) from 12 to 2 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Bro Chris Ball officiating.
Committal services will be held Tuesday (July 9, 2019) at 3 p.m. in the Garden of Everlasting Life III. Military rites will be provided by American Legion Posts 3/265. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
