Timothy "Cubby" Scott Culbertson

Aka Cubby

Tim was born in Kingsport, TN and grew up in the Indian Springs Community. A graduate of Sullivan Central High School where he played basketball and ran track. He graduated from East Tennessee State University and proudly became a TKE, staying in touch throughout the years. He worked 30 + years as a videographer, also known as “Cubby” at WJHL, and WTFM then retired from WCYB. Oh the stories he could tell…

He raised a daughter and never missed a soft ball game. The team thought he was the greatest dad when he produced a video of their winning season. Anyone that knew Tim knew he had the gift of gab, endless bounty of historical facts and famous for his classic sweater vest/khaki pant attire. He never met a stranger that he couldn’t strike up a conversation with while swaying side to side. He was passionate about NASCAR, the Titans and Volunteers and voiced it loudly, good or bad! He also had the gift of music, not only enjoying it but playing, singing and writing it. He and the love of his life, Rhonda, shared the love of music, attending many concerts and endless hours enjoying it by the firepit. They were finally able to travel after his retirement touring the US, filling his bucket list along with his rocking chair and faithful companion Buddy. Above all, he loved his family. His daughter was his world he and gained a son who referred to him as Pops. Those of us privileged to have known him are truly blessed and he will be dearly missed.

Survivors are his parents Claude Donald Culbertson and Alleen Henry Culbertson , wife Rhonda Parks Culbertson, children Bailey Childers (Larry), stepson Brian Clarke (Carter Davidson), granddaughter Baillie Childers, faithful companions Buddy Holly and Bailey Sue and several cousins.

A celebration of life for "Cubby" will be held Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 11:00 AM at East Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 4997 Memorial Blvd, Kingsport, Tennessee 37664. A funeral service will occur Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 1:00 PM. The burial will occur Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 2:00 PM.
