

Mrs. Virginia Jo Snapp, 84, of Kingsport, passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2014 at Holston Manor in Kingsport. Born on April 12, 1930 in Coalinga, CA, she was the daughter of the late Jake David Lay and Lily Kate Hilton Lay. Mrs. Snapp was a member of Sunnyside Baptist Church where she sung in the church choir and taught Sunday school. She cherished her church family and expressed her love by her hand-made quilts and pillows for the members of Sunnyside Baptist Church. She also loved to cook. In addition to her parents, Jake David Lay and Lily Kate Hilton Lay, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Willie Eugene Snapp; and several brothers and one sister. She is survived by her children, Del Snapp; Donnie Snapp and his wife, Janet; and Vicki Easley and her husband, Arlen; seven grandchildren, April Jeter, Kelly Taylor, Chad Arslanian, Jason Snapp, Josh Snapp, Stephanie Baker and Jake Stamper; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, J.D. Lay, Jr. and his wife, Helen; Roy Lay and his wife, Peggy and John Lay and his wife, Maureen; and special sister-in-law, Madge Lay. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, December 9, 2014 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Sunnyside Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Roy Graves officiating. Pallbearers honoring Mrs. Snapp are Jason Snapp, Josh Snapp, Jake Stamper, Chad Arslanian, Austin Arslanian, Brad Taylor, Joe Jeter and Mike Fields. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. in the Garden of Gethsemane of East Lawn Memorial Park.
