

Wanda Marie (Roberts) Hickman, 82, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord on February 04, 2024, at her home following an extended illness. Wanda was born October 16, 1941, in Kingsport, TN, to the late John A. and Zella M. (Whitaker) Roberts.
Wanda retired as a school cafeteria cook from Kingsport City Schools' after over 20 years of service. She was of the Apostolic faith, and faithfully attended Christian Life Center of the Tri-Cities for 44 years. Wanda was a much beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, Mamaw, Grammy, aunt, sister, neighbor, and friend. Throughout her life, Wanda lived as a beautiful example of a Proverbs 31 woman, and was a warm and gracious hostess to the many strangers and guests alike that she welcomed as family into her home, and to her table. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Govin P. Hickman; two brothers, Jerry Roberts, and Larry Roberts; and great-granddaughter, Emersyn Hickman.
Wanda is survived by two sons, Charles Hickman & wife, Linda, and Tim Hickman & wife, Krisanne; one daughter, Rosezella (Hickman) Tharp & husband, Jayme; nine grandchildren: Andy Hickman & wife, Alecia; Derenda (Hickman) Russell & husband, J.R; Sharlyn (Hickman) Pierce & husband, Tyler; Spencer Hickman; Jami Marie (Tharp) Frazier & husband, Barrett; Katelyn (Tharp) Whitmore & husband, Steven; Logan Tharp & wife, Lexi; Holly (Helton) Ward & husband, Andy; and Hilary Helton; eight great-grandchildren: MaKayla Ward, Kinleigh Whitmore, Peyton Ramsey, Canaan Hickman, Waylon Frazier, Avery Tharp, Samuel Russell, and Lincoln Frazier. Wanda is also survived by her brother, Marion Roberts; sister Phyllis (Roberts) Epps; special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jerry & Barbara Hickman; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on February 06, 2024, at 5 pm at Christian Life Center of the Tri-Cities (2401 John B. Dennis Hwy, Kingsport, TN). A celebration of life service will follow at 7 pm with Pastor Jeremy Damesworth officiating, and Rev. Eddie Johnson and Rev. James Greever speaking. Music will be provided by Charles Hickman.
Committal services will be held on February 07, 2024, at 12 pm in the Garden of Hope at East Lawn Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Spencer Hickman, Logan Tharp, Tyler Pierce, Barrett Frazier, Steven Whitmore and J.R. Russell; with Andy Hickman, Marion Roberts, and Jerry Hickman, serving as honorary pallbearers.
The Hickman and Tharp families would like to thank Malinda Harless and Amedisys Hospice for the loving and compassionate care they gave to Wanda prior to her passing.
