William “Bill” LeRoy Wortman, 73, passed during the morning hours of Friday (March 22, 2019) surrounded by his beloved family. Bill was born on May 14, 1945 in Detroit, MI to the late Elton LeRoy & Evelyn Mae (Butcher) Wortman.
Bill was a 1967 graduate of Michigan State with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering. After graduating, Bill pursued a career with Eastman Chemical Company and retired after 37 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed traveling being outdoors, taking pictures of various of nature scenes, visiting lighthouses on the Great Lakes, hiking, reading, and spending time with his family. He was a member of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church. Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend; he will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 49 years, Vera Evelyn (Moffitt) Wortman; daughter, Elizabeth Revans & husband Andrew; sister, Joan Bradford; five grandchildren, Kael, Hickory, Timber, Clover, and Cedar; “furry-friend”, Freckles; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday (March 26, 2019) from noon to 1 p.m. at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church (2517 N John B Dennis Hwy Kingsport, TN 37660). A Funeral Mass will follow at 1 p.m. at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church with Father Michael Cummins officiating.
Bill will be laid to rest following the funeral mass in the Garden of Apostles at East Lawn Memorial Park. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
