

Aurora was a retired school teacher and principal, and a civic leader who was involved in various groups and clubs throughout her life. Aurora was a member of the St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church Altar Society and Choir, Board member of the Christus Spohn Hospital Kleberg Advisory Board, Flair Dept. of the Woman’s Club of Kingsville, Friends of the Conner Museum, Christus Spohn Hospital Kleberg Volunteers, Kingsville Symphony Orchestra, Music Club of Kingsville, Kleberg Public Library Board, Kingsville Historical Development Board, Lions Club, Kingsville Tri-City Retired Teachers Association and Sembradores de Amistad of Kingsville, Texas.
Her love for the education of all children; her dedication to improve the life of everyone she encountered; and her tireless service to the betterment of the community will continue to live in our hearts forever.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, R. S. “Cookie” Garza; her parents, Adan Alvarez Sr. and Antonia Saenz Alvarez; and her brother, Adan Alvarez Jr.
She is survived by her sister, America (James C.) Alvarez Wilson of Reno, Nevada; her sister-in-law, Blanca C. Alvarez of Kingsville; seven nieces, Thelma A. Cavazos and Michelle (Arturo) Infante of Corpus Christi, Texas, Marissa R. Perez, Ana-Alicia Perez, Elaine (Robert Xavier) Perez and Sandra (Mario, Jr.) Delgado of San Antonio, Texas, and Carol Schunter of Reno, Nevada; two nephews, Karl Wilson of Union City, California and James Mark Wilson of Pataluma, California; four grandnephews, Adan Arturo Infante of Corpus Christi, Trevor Southwick and Keelan Southwick of Reno, Nevada, and Aaron Wilson of Reno, Nevada; and two grandnieces, Carolina T. Infante of Corpus Christi, Texas and Kara Wilson of Reno, Nevada; and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2011 at St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Kingsville at Chamberlain Cemetery.
