Bobby Joe Gibson

Bobby Joe Gibson, age 83, a resident of Bishop, Texas passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at his residence. He was born August 15, 1928 in Taft,Texas to John Hayden Gibson and Ocie Mae Curry Gibson. Mr. Gibson was a self-employed farmer all of his life in the Bishop area until his retirement. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Bishop.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, LaDelle Moody.

Mr. Gibson is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Jean Gibson of Bishop; two daughters, Cheryl Edwards (Jim) of Bishop and Joleen Lindsey (Jerry) of San Marcos, Texas; one brother, John Hayden Gibson, Jr. of Corpus Christi, Texas; one sister, Patty Jean Lee (Robert) of Allen, Texas; four grandchildren, Chris Edwards (Niki), Shelley Moreno (Tony), Wade Lindsey (Dawn) and Whitney Lindsey; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 11, 2012 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, Kingsville. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2012 at First United Methodist Church, 804 East Sixth Street, Bishop, with Rev. James Ramirez officiating. Burial will follow in Bishop at Restland Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Junior Kieschnick, James Murray, Monty Murray, Douglas Patrick, Jerry Lindsey and Jim Edwards. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 387, Bishop, Texas 78343.

Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
