

Marlene Thomas Tinney, age 75, a resident of Bishop, Texas passed away Saturday, March 12, 2011 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on March 2, 1936 in Greggton, Texas to Willie W. Thomas and Lorene Finney Thomas. Mrs. Tinney was the former owner of Marni Bookstore in Kingsville and co-owner of Tinney Enterprises, Bishop. She was an member of Bishop American Legion Auxiliary, V.F.W. auxiliary of Longview, Texas and ladies auxiliary of Christus Spohn Hospital Kleberg.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael “Mickey” Tinney; parents; and brother, Gerald Thomas.
Mrs. Tinney is survived by three daughters, Iris Tinney of Mathis, Texas, Debbie Tinney of Kingsville and Lisa (Larry) Shafer of San Antonio, Texas; one sister, Norma (Henry) Stevens of Gilmer, Texas; eight grandchildren, Misse Orr, LaCresha Villarreal, Jamie Gautreaux, Lori (Mark) Lara, Holly (Ryan) Pruitt, Glenda Orr, Dustin Shafer and Michael Tucker; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel, Kingsville, with Rev. A.T. Colley officiating. Burial will follow in Bishop at Restland Cemetery.
The family wishes to express their thanks and gratitude to Erika Villarreal and Barbara Everett for their care and compassion during her illness.
