Crystal Dawn Cross

Crystal Dawn Cross of Kipling, Saskatchewan passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on August 26, 2021. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece and cousin; her presence is deeply missed by her family and friends.

Crystal married her husband Ward July 15th, 1989. Together they had two children, Kaitlyn (1994) and Austyn (1997). They were elated to welcome their first grandchild Chloe in 2018.

Crystal devoted thirty years to a career in health care. She took immense pride in the care she provided to the residents of Kipling's long term care facility. It was always beautifully decorated for holidays and special occasions. She even arranged day trips, where she would bring the residents out to the farm for barbecues during harvest.

She spent many years driving her children to their numerous sports and activities. Crystal never missed a game or event and was known to be the mom who brought a cooler brimming with the best snacks and drinks. She was active herself, playing volleyball in a ladies league all the way up to her cancer diagnosis. Some of Crystal's most cherished memories were made watching her children's games or stepping onto the volleyball court.

Crystal loved baking and gardening. Her delicious desserts were always generously shared with friends and family. Her gardens would have the most beautiful, vibrantly colored flowers and kept the yard looking bright and welcoming. Many times, Crystal would drive the golf cart around to admire her flowers. The dogs would then jump on to the cart and join her for a tour, which brought her such enjoyment.

As much as Crystal enjoyed her flowers in the summer time, she also enjoyed her warm winter holidays with family and good friends. She loved going on tours, eating local cuisine and taking photos of all the beautiful scenery. Crystal was befriended by the resort staff as she would treat them with such kindness.

Her dedication as a farm wife was always so evident. Delicious, three course meals were hand delivered out to the field. When the meals were finished, she would join Ward for a ride in the combine. Crystal would frequently take grain samples to the elevator while Ward was still in the field and when it was time to move equipment she would drop what ever she was doing to help move trucks.

If you spoke to Crystal, she would tell you her pride and joy was her granddaughter Chloe. The house was always prepared for a visit with a stash of popcorn twists, ice cream and any other sweets she could find or bake herself. They shared a special bond and Chloe lovingly called her "Nama". Together they spent hours playing in Nama's room, driving the golf cart, splashing around in the pool and sharing warm hugs.

Crystal's family and friends will greatly miss her infectious laugh, heart the size of Texas, unwaivering loyalty and warm, genuine smile. Her children and granddaughter will deeply feel the absence of her love filled hugs and words of wisdom and encouragement. Her husband Ward, will forever miss the wonderful life they shared together. Crystal's legacy will live on through the many photos she took over the years and the very special memories made.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the many health care professionals comprised of Crystal's care team. Her health was predominately in the caring hands of the staff at Moosomin Integrated Care Center. Crystal was always treated with dignity, compassion and grace.

Crystal will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 32 years, Ward; daughter Kaitlyn (Jordan) Wilson; son Austyn Cross; granddaughter Chloe Wilson; father Bill Rogers; brother Kent (Della) Rogers; mother-in-law Julie Cross; brother-in-law Warren (DeeDee) Cross; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was predeceased by her mother Jean Rogers; brother Warren Rogers and father-in-law Allan Cross.

Honoring Crystal's wishes, there will not be a funeral service held at this time.
