John Hengen

In loving memory of John George Hengen, born August 29, 1933 in the Rhineland District near Peebles, Saskatchewan, passed away November 28th, 2025 in Kipling, Saskatchewan. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.

John was a lifelong farmer and spent his entire life on the family farm near Peebles.

John was involved in the Knights of Columbus, Peebles Co-op, Sask Wheat Pool, Heritage Apartments in Windthorst and was on the Church and Cemetery Board at St. Pius Catholic Church. In addition to his many roles, John played a key part in helping establish the CKW Feedlot. He was an avid curler, golfer and liked to hunt in his early years. Besides his extensive involvement in the community, he was also well known locally and in the surrounding communities for his singing talent, where he sang at many weddings and functions and was a member of the Kipling Community Choir. John also enjoyed playing his accordion and piano for family and friends.

John is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Joan; his four children: Terry (Norah) Hengen and their four children: Jonathon (Eve) Hengen, Melissa (Luke) Milburn, Aaron Hengen, Andrew Hengen (Jacey Tarr); Karen (Dewayne) Prochinsky; Louise (Darryl) Dash and their three children: Alicia Dash (Derek Briscoe), Jordan and Brandon Dash; Donald (Teresa) Hengen and their two children Brianna and Colten Hengen.

John was predeceased by his parents Hubert and Annie Hengen; sister Lucille (Don) Cave and brother David Hengen.

He leaves to mourn his sister Gloria Welch; sister-in-law Rita Hengen; great-grandchildren: Mikella, Paige, Maddox, Elloe, Jakaedon, Joseppi and Emory as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral mass will be concelebrated in St. Pius R.C. Church, Windthorst, Saskatchewan on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. by Rev. Joseph Villamartin and Rev. Albert Schmitz. A private interment will take place.
