She was married to her husband, Don, for 65 years, joining him less than a month after his passing.
Darlyne adored horses and rode them in her youth. She loved to crochet: she would often crochet gifts for children’s teachers at Christmastime and for her grandchildren. She enjoyed working puzzle books. Darlyne’s world revolved around her children. Both her and her husband Don drove the bus for the Osceola High School Band, going to away games and competitions.
Darlyne found joy in her work with the Osceola County School System as a school food service manager for 25 years. In her retirement, Darlyne loved to travel, exploring the United States in her motorhome with Don. Whenever they would leave, her grandchildren would race them as they played “On the Road Again” over their musical horns.
She enjoyed family get-togethers for BBQs, Fish Frys and holidays. Both Darlyne and Don were Saturday morning regulars at Cracker Barrel and frequent lunches at Catfish Place. Darlyne also enjoyed volunteering at Lawnmowerman every Thursday, helping her son and daughter-in-law with office work.
Darlyne is survived by her daughter, Dee Dee Warner (Carl) of Kent, WA; her sons, Darrold Arwood (Marilyn) of Holopaw, FL, and Daniel Arwood (Florence) of Apopka, FL; her daughter-in-law Vickie Sullivan of Davenport, FL; her brothers Robert Witsil and Jerrold Witsil and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Arwood of Kissimmee, FL; her parents, Belle and Michael Witsil, of Winter Park, FL; and her adoptive son, Kris Weimer of Davenport, FL.
Darlyne Etta Arwood will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and gramma (Gramma Dee to her great-grandchildren). She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She truly was our “Sunshine”!
