Irene Agatha Roach , 96, stepped quietly across the threshold, entering into her eternal resting place on Tuesday, September 5th, at 9 p.m., she was at home where she took her last breath in the presence of her daughter, Lushette, and son, Albert, by her bedside.
Irene had 2 affectionate names. In younger days, she was known as “Sister Tutt”, but after she became grandmother and started caring for her grandchildren, she derived the name “Granny Ranks”. This name came about all because of the strict rules she demonstrated; and, was given by her grandson, “Paul”.
Irene made her grand entrance into the world to her late parents, George Roach and Frances Palmer. Leaving school, with great vigor, vitality, enthusiasm and profuse willingness to support her 8 children, she became a home-maker.
Irene was an amazing mother, grand-mother, aunt, sister and friend. She knew how to express herself in a gracious and humorous way. She loved singing and cooking; her favorite song was “Happy happy happy in the Lord”.
Irene migrated to the US in 1991 and became a citizen, but she is now a citizen of the heavenly city. Left to cherish her memories: Brother Eric (England), Sister Gladys (J.A), Children, Albert, Lushette, Rona, Jean and Jennifer, 25 Grand-children, 32 Great-grandchildren, 14 Great-great-grandchildren and a whole host of nieces, nephews, other family members and lots of friends.
