Janet E. Murphy

Janet E. Murphy, 67, of both Medford, New Jersey and Celebration, Florida passed away after a long battle with cancer on February 13, 2013. She was born in Trenton, New Jersey on November 24, 1945 to Elmer and Margaret Foultz, and grew up in Bordentown, New Jersey. Janet graduated from Glassboro State College, later renamed Rowan University, with her master’s degree in Elementary Education and Learning Disabilities. It was there at Glassboro during her freshman year in 1963 that she met her close and longtime friend, Barbara Barkdoll. Janet was then a dedicated teacher for 36 years in the same school she went to as a child, Clara Barton Elementary School. After retiring from teaching, she spent her time between New Jersey and Florida. Janet was also a member of the Bordentown Chapter #257 Order of the Eastern Star of New Jersey. She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, William L. Murphy. Janet is survived by her loving son, William J., and will be missed by a long list of friends.

Funeral arrangements for Janet are under the care of Grissom Funeral Home, (407) 847-3131 and Huber-Moore Funeral Home, (609) 298-0330. There will be two memorial services held for Janet. The first will be held on Monday, February 18th, 2013 at Community Presbyterian Church in Celebration, Florida at 1PM. The second memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 21st, 2013 at Faith Presbyterian Church in Medford, New Jersey at 11AM, with calling hours starting at 10AM.

Interment will be held at Bordentown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Janet E. Murphy’s name be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
