

Arthur passed away peacefully on Sunday December 22, 2013 at the wonderful age of 104 years. Arthur was predeceased by his wife Frieda (Schwarz) and survived by his son Manfred (Hilde-deceased), and his daughters Jutta (Cliff) Campbell, and Helga Mueller and Karin (Brian) Evans and his loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Arthur will be missed by his sisters, Erika McRay, Annie Hapke, and Margaret Brown.
He was predeceased by his parents Friedrich and Martha Gaertner and a sister Ellie Fege.
Arthur was well known to many in the Kitchener community as owner/operator of “Arts Esso Service Station” corner of Edna and Victoria in the 60s and 70s and later the owner of “Guelph British Motors.” on Gordon St., Guelph.
Arthur was able to stay in his own home unitl age 100 and then moved to Leisure World Elmira Nursing Home.
Arthur’s family will receive friends and relatives at the Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home, 51 Benton at Church St. Kitchener on Monday December 30, 2013 from 1:00pm until time of funeral service in the chapel at 2:00pm.
Interment: Woodland Cemetery, Kitchener.
