Daniel Amatruda, age 93, joined his wife Jeanne early, Saturday morning, November 16th. He will be dearly remembered by his extensive family; his sons Dan (Lexi) and John (Dyna) and his daughters Michele, Camilla, and Gabrielle (Sandy) as well as his younger brother Rudolph (Frances) and sister Rosa. His welcoming smile, propensity for carrying a tune and love of dancing will be missed by his eight grand children and six great grandchildren. The family thanks the caring nurses and kind staff at the Westmount Long Term Care facility for three years of helping Dad feel comfortable in his newfound home.
Dad was the lead founding member of the Italian Cortina Club in Kitchener and an enthusiastic member of their choir well into his late 80s. He was also one of the very first Ontario Retail Tax auditors when the department was created in the 1960s.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Nov 19th from 2-4 pm and from 7-9pm (Prayer Vigil at 8:30pm) at the Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home, 51 Benton St Kitchener, N2G 3H1. Dad will be laid to rest on Wednesday Nov. 20th at 11am with a Mass of Christian Burial at St Francis Parish Church, 49 Blueridge Ave. Kitchener with Rev. Joseph de Viveiros CR. as celebrant.
Interment: Woodland Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be greatly appreciated by the family by calling the funeral home at 519-742-4481 or condolences at www.schreitersandrockfuneraalhome.com
