We extend our sincerest friendship and sympathies to your family in the passing of Rev. McLean.  We attended Harcourt United and had the privilege of being married by Rev. McLean in 1974.  As the years have past our appreciation has grown, knowing how fortunuate we were in our marriage to begin with his support and ministering.  We have fond memories or our family's friendship all those years ago.  Blessings.

Dear Louise,
My deepest sympathy with the passing away of Don. I have known him for only a few years during which we were both members of the Toronto Recorder Players' Society. Many times we travelled on Friday nights in his or my car to friends in East York for a few hours of recorder playing. He loved it!  During these trips we had the most animated discussions, often about music and religiion.  I have very fond memories of those occasions.   
I wish you all the strength you need.

Dear Louise:  My sympathy to you and your family on Don's passing - it was just by chance that I saw it in Saturday's Toronto Star.    The last time we met was when you and Don were kind enough to come to Stu's Memorial Service which was much appreciated.  My thoughts are with you this afternoon.

I am saddened to hear of Don's passing. It was a delight to know him and have him as a chorister back in the mid-'90s at Church of the Master. I well remember his passion for the recorder and amateur music-making--he introduced me to CAMMAC.

I admired Don's kind spirit, and his many accomplishments.

Louise, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers during this sad time.

Remember that he was very much apart of building the apartments around Church of The Master to help people have affordable living. He took pride in participating in our meetings ensure the maintaining and safety of the buliding and those that lived there came first.

DONALD E.C. MCLEAN building at 3379 Lawrence Avenue East in Scarborough, Ontario.

He will be deeply missed by so many young and old and some whom are no longer with us. He always had a soft spoken voice and would take time to speak to each and everyone.
Your move to Kitchener was a timely one  and he would not have wanted this any other way.

Some of the long-time Moira Lake cottagers will remember with a smile the lovely sounds of Don's music floating out of his cottage and over the lake.  His gentleness and friendship will be missed by the Sherwin family.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. We have such great memories covering many decades.

I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of my Uncle Don.  I have many memories of him and the impact and inspiration that he had on my life. He and I shared a love of music and he taught me to play the recorder when I was young. My brother, Don (named after him) and I remembered a wooden toy garage that he made and gave to us as a Christmas present in the late 1960's.  In 1974, I started attending the University of Guelph and my Uncle Don and Aunt Louise were very welcoming to me as I frequently attended their church (Harcourt Memorial) and had a nice lunch and visits with them. We kept in touch after I finished my studies at Guelph and my Uncle Don was especially thrilled when I did my graduate studies at the University of Calgary, and then returned to the University of Guelph as a postdoctoral fellow. One of my proudest moments in my own life was introducing Don and Louise to a very special lady, Martha Law, whom I met at church upon my return to Guelph.  My father, Campbell, had Alzheimer's and so we asked Uncle Don to help with our wedding in 1988. Martha and I have kept in touch with Don and Louise through the years even though we moved some distance away - first to Kingston and then to Texas. I last saw Don in 2010 at their cottage near Tweed, a place he and Louise always enjoyed.
Don was an inspiration to many of us. While he had considerable education, he was very humble and readily interacted with people regardless of background. My own memories of our talks are more related to music. Others will have equally vivid yet different memories. In closing, I want to say that we have been blessed to have known Rev Donald EC McLean.
