Dorothy Irene Piehl

PIEHL, Dorothy Irene – After a beautiful and fulfilling life lived with dignity and grace, it is with sadness that Dorothy’s family announces her passing at the age of 86 years on November 17, 2010. Beloved wife of the late Clare Piehl, who predeceased her in 1997. Cherished mother of sons Gregory Piehl and Timothy (Joy) Piehl of Vancouver, and daughters Meredith (Herb Wollny) of Waterloo and Stephanie Piehl (Steve Bramwell) of Hope, BC. Dorothy is forever remembered by her grandchildren, Jacob, Marcus and Natika Piehl. She is also survived by her brother Godfrey Upshall (Barbara) of Kent, England and sister Gwen Roberts of Cardiff, Wales. Predeceased by her brother, Denis Upshall.

Dorothy loved music, her gardens and her family. She arrived in Canada as a war bride and always remained the proper British lady. She is greatly loved and will be forever missed.

A service celebrating Dorothy’s life will be held on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at 1 o’clock at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home. Friends may call from 12 o’clock until service time. A reception will follow at the Ratz-Bechtel Family Centre. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Murray Alzheimer Research and Education Program (MAREP) at the University of Waterloo.
