Gavin Currie

Passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2011 in his 86th year with his family at his side. Beloved husband of 64 years to his wife Betty. Dear father to his sons Darryl and Brad. Survived by two of his sisters and family members in Eastern Canada. He was the Director of Purchases at the University of Waterloo until his retirement in 1977. Gavin was a member of the K.W. Naval Veteran’s Association, Royal Canadian Legion and Trinity United Church. He was most proud of his WWII service as a corvette ship radar operator, seeing action during the Battle of the Atlantic. His wink and his smile will be truly missed. The family wishes to express deep appreciation to Dr. Prasad, Dr. Tan and all of the staff of the 6th floor at St. Mary’s Hospital. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Visitation will be held at the Ratz-Bechtel Family Centre, 621 King St. W. on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 from 5-9 p.m. A private family burial will take place at Woodland Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
