Romayne Margaret Elizabeth Hilker

HILKER, Romayne Margaret Elizabeth (nee Steppler) – passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 10, 2013 in her 98th year. Predeceased by her husband Roy. Loving mother to Elizabeth Seeds (Brian), Paul (Susan) and the late Philip Hilker. Dear grandma to Shawn Seeds (Valerie), Elizabeth Tracey Lilbourne, Patric Seeds, Shannon Hilker, Christopher Hilker (Catherine) and Trevor Hilker (Sarah) and great grandmother to Trystan Seeds (Marie), Maxine Seeds, Jordon Seeds, Michelene Deck (Nick), Jonathon Lilbourne, Bethany Hilker and Zoey Hilker. Romayne was very active in her community and church and was a lifetime member and past president of the Lutheran Church Women. Along with her husband Roy, Romayne was one of the founding members of New Dawn School for the Developmentally Delayed on Fairfield Avenue. She enjoyed working at KW Habilitation Services Training Centre. An avid knitter, she took great pleasure in knitting lap-robes, baby sweaters and pneumonia vests for the Canadian Lutheran World Relief, as well as knitting many treasures for her grandchildren. Family and friends may visit the Ratz Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King Street West, Kitchener on Wednesday March 13 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral Service will be held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 49 Queen Street North, Kitchener on Thursday, March 14 at 2pm with a reception to follow.
