

Alexander “Al” Aiken, age 73, of Knoxville, passed away on Sunday, August 2nd, 2015. He was born in Flushing, New York in 1942. Al served in the United States Navy for 4 years, a majority of that time aboard the carrier, the U.S.S. Enterprise. He later graduated from New York University, with a B.A. Degree in Economics. Al worked as an Economist for the federal government, Department of Housing and Urban Development for 26 years. He enjoyed volunteering at the Knoxville Museum of Art and the McClung Museum of Natural History and Art, and especially loved working with children as a docent. He was a member of Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife Joan, step-daughters Joann Doty and husband Stephen, Shelia Tanner and husband David, and Susan Bentley Lee and husband John, grandchildren Marcia Collier and husband John, Paul McGee, Stephen Doty, Christopher Doty, John Ryan Lee, and Maxwell Lee; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Katie Collier, brother Alan Cramer, aunt Ethel Goodband, beautiful and loving cat Grayce Ann, and many other family and friends. A Special “Thank You” to Dr. Gregg Rader for your friendship and compassion. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 6th, 2015 from 4:00 to 5:00 PM at Berry Highland West Funeral Home, with a Celebration of Life to follow at 5:00 PM.
