Betty J Grady

Betty Johnson Grady, age 92, of Knoxville, TN passed away on November 20, 2024, surrounded by loved ones and is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Born on February 4, 1932, she graduated from Karns High School in 1950, marrying her high school sweetheart - she a cheerleader, he a basketball player. Throughout her life, Betty made friends easily and maintained several close relationships from her childhood and school days. She was active in Cumberland Baptist Church and will be remembered by her years of dedication in helping neighborhood children and adults as a center leader at Cumberland Estates Recreation Center for 27 years until she retired in 1997. She loved square dancing, loved to sing, and taught many people to play Bridge. Betty was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-four years, Stewart Vaughn Grady; parents Hugh and Bertie Grant Johnson, sister, Jeanette (Bill) Padgett, brothers, Calvin (Johnie) Johnson and Bill Johnson. She is survived by sister-in-law Zennie Johnson, and her loving children, Stewart (Mary) Grady, William (Nancy) Grady and Teresa Grady; grandchildren, Spencer (Allison) Grady, and Emily Grady, and many nieces and nephews. Receiving of friends will be Sunday, December 1, 2024 at Weaver Funeral Home at 5815 Western Avenue, Knoxville, TN from 2:00-4:00 followed by a service at 4:00. Graveside services will be held on December 2, 2024 at 11:00 at Edgewood Cemetery, 219 S Gallaher View Rd.
