Charlene Joan Himebaugh

Charlene Joan "KiKi" Himebaugh made her transition to more life on March 7th, 2023 at the age of 86. She died from complications of a hip fracture and a very worn out heart. She was born in Jerome, Michigan on January 11th, 1937. She grew up on a dairy farm and learned her work ethic from her father. She later moved to Memphis, Tennessee and graduated from University of Memphis with a degree in accounting. She retired from Federal Express and moved to Knoxville, Tennessee in 1997 to be near her grandchildren. She poured her heart into them. Kiki found joy in the time she spent with them. She will be missed by those who loved her but her voice will remain in our hearts and minds.

Kiki was always teaching us about faith and love. She would save clippings of all kinds of sayings about wisdom. She stated she looked forward to the day when she got to heaven and her faith would become sight. She wanted to "dance with Jesus" and would want us to celebrate her life. She is now dancing and enjoying all the fruits of her faith.

Those present to welcome her in her heavenly home are her mother and father, Hattie Mathilda and Elmer Ellsworth Bowsman. Also her lifelong companion GB "Goose" Humphreys and her two brothers and four sisters. Left to remember her are her daughters, Dr. Teresa M. Himebaugh and Dr. Susie Himebaugh (Sonny Hitchcox), her grandchildren Amanda K. Gray (Travis), Taylor H. Cofer, several nieces and nephews and her loyal rescue dog Lucy. She will be greeted by many past pets in her eternal life.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, March 17th, 2023 at 5:00 PM in the chapel of Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, she always said, “send them while I'm alive, not after I'm in heaven”, memorial gifts may be made to Sequoyah Presbyterian Church, Young Williams Animal Shelter or Julia and Jim Rouse Safe Haven Fund at the MSU Foundation, PO Box 6149, Mississippi State, MS 39762. Her family looks forward to sharing a celebration of a life well lived and well loved!
