Charles Newell Shanklin, age 83 of Knoxville, Tn. passed away August 28, 2023. He retired from Merita Bakery after 30 years of service. He enjoyed his final years working at Wallace Memorial Baptist Church and felt he was working for the Lord. Preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Cecile Shanklin. Survived by brother, Vaughn Shanklin, Sr. (Paulette); nephew, Doug Shanklin (Holly); nieces, Paula Painter (Brent), Tammy Mills (Larry) and Debbie Weaver.Special thanks to Wallace Memorial staff and especially to Martha, Tim and the late Don Disney who loved and encouraged Charles. Family will receive friends Thursday at Weaver’s Chapel from 5-7 pm with service to follow at 7 pm.
