

Chris Eugene Burgin, age 68, of Seymour, Tennessee ran into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, September 30, 2025. Chris was born at East Tennessee Baptist Hospital in Knoxville. He was a longtime member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church, and most recently a member of East Maryville Baptist Church. He retired from Knoxville Utilities Board in 2021 after 43 years of service.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and Christian. He loved fiercely and enjoyed making sure everyone in his life felt special, appreciated and loved. He had the ability to inspire others to be the very best versions of themselves. He delighted in sharing the love of Jesus through his actions and relationships. Most recently, he made it a point to say "love never dies because Jesus never died!"
Chris was preceded in death by parents, Homer and Ruth Burgin; brothers, Mike and Pat; granddaughter, Brittany Johnson; uncles and role models, J.N., Eugene, and Darrahl.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sonnie; daughters, Crystal Meldrum (John) and Tiffany Burgess; grandchildren: Hailey Johnson, Parker Meldrum, Lydia Meldrum, Trinity Burgess, Brantley Burgess, Marissa Burgess, and Hailey Burgess; sister, Zoe Terrell (Bobby); much loved aunt, Betty Burgin; uncle, Danny Mikels; as well as several special cousins, nieces and nephews; best friend and a true Christian brother, Jim Keener.
Family will receive friends from 12:30 - 2:30 PM Sunday, October 5, 2025 at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway, with a funeral service to follow at 2:30 PM, Dr. Hollie Miller officiating. Family and friends will meet at Sherwood Memorial Gardens at 12:45 PM for a 1:00 PM interment on Monday, October 6, 2025.
