Concepcion L. Perez, 92, of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away on 23 February 2023. She was born to parents Augusto and Pilar on 30 November 1930 in Cabanes, Spain. She grew up in Valencia, Spain and worked in her father’s pharmacy. She met her future husband, Rafael, in Valencia and they were married there on April 11, 1955. Their first 2 children, Rafael and Augusto, were born in Madrid, Spain. The family moved to the United States where Rafael established a career as a scientist and educator. Their children, Gonzalo, Victor, and Cristina were born in the United States.
Concepcion was a talented seamstress and renowned chef of Spanish cuisine among her circle of family, friends, and visitors from Europe and South America who she and Rafael frequently hosted. Most importantly, she was the anchor of the family; the economist who held the family together through lean times and guided her children to successful lives.
Concepcion was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Rafael. She is survived by all of her loving children Rafael, Augusto, Gonzalo, Victor, and Cristina, and her 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
The family has entrusted Berry Highland Memorial with the arrangements. A reception and remembrance will be held in Concepcion’s honor on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at Berry Highland Memorial.
