Dennis passed away peacefully at Parkwest Medical Center with his wife and daughter by his side. Loved and respected by all who knew him. He will forever be remembered for his humor, quick wit and loving heart. He took pride in his work at the University of Tennessee. He was a Professor in Plant Sciences and his research focused on corn and wheat breeding. Preceeded in death by his brother, Kenneth West and parents. Survived by his loving wife, Wonna West; daughter, Nikki West (Lonnie Reed); grandsons, Daniel West and Luke Reed; sisters, Teresa Malone and Patti West; brothers, Bruce West and Gary West; many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. A very special thank you to David Kincer, best friend and co-worker. The family would like to thank the staff at Parkwest Medical Center for their excellent care and compassion. Wednesday, April 22nd at Weaver Funeral Home from 5-7 PM. Graveside services will be held Monday April 27th 2026 at 1PM in Thomaston Cemetery in Thomaston, Alabama.
