Russell, Dixie E., age 88, of Strawberry Plains, passed away on Saturday July 29, 2011. Dixie was a loving mother and grandmother and a lifetime member of Thorngrove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward C. Russell and her parents, Dan and Bertha Hancock. She is survived by: sons Denzil Russell, and Archie and wife Kathy Russell; daughter Carol and husband Donnie Brooks; granddaughter April M. Anderson and partner Justin Snell; grandson Brandon and wife Staci Russell; granddaughter Casey Brooks; and great-grandchildren: Joe and Gus Swearingen, Ethan Russell, and Daniel and Ashley Marcum. The family will receive friends on Monday August 1st from 6-8pm with the funeral service to follow at 8pm at McCarty-Evergreen Funeral Home.
