

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sara Allen Martin; his father, Joe Martin; and his mother, Mary Martin.
Doug is survived by his stepdaughter, Laura Weas of Asheville, North Carolina, and his stepson, Justin Treadwell of Knoxville; his sister, Mary Jo Randall of Lake City, Florida; his brother, Gary Martin of Louisville, Kentucky; and his sister, Ann Martin of Las Cruces, New Mexico. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Zachary Weas, Hannah Weas, Hayden Treadwell, and Avery Treadwell; along with many nieces and nephews.
Born in St. Paul, Minnesota, on March 26, 1951, Doug graduated from West High School before earning his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Tennessee in 1974. He then entered the U.S. Naval Officer Candidate School and served as an officer aboard the USS Forrestal for six years. In 1981, he earned his MBA from Florida State University. Doug went on to work for many years as a manager for Lowe’s.
Doug had a zest for life and enjoyed fishing, skeet shooting, and traveling with Sara. He was a devoted and loving caregiver to her during her years of declining health. Deeply committed to his community, Doug was also a faithful volunteer with FISH Hospitality Pantries for many years.
A celebration of Doug’s life will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Berry Highland Memorial Funeral Home, with a graveside service to follow at 1:00 p.m.
