He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran with 21 years of active-duty service. Frank worked for the Federal Aviation Administration until his retirement. He was a Ham radio operator and enjoyed traveling with his wife Evelyn.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Winifred Herring; sister, Dorothy Cox; 2 brothers, William and Joseph Herring.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Cherry; sons, Frank (Sonjia) Herring and David (Rebecca) Herring; stepchildren: Todd (Mary Jo) Cherry, Susan Cherry, and Tim (Bunnie) Cherry; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 24, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McCarty Evergreen Funeral Home 7426 Asheville Hwy, Knoxville. Funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. There will be an Interment at a later day at Fernhill Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, 1501 S. Kanner Hwy. Stuart, FL 34994.
