Gertrude Shepherd Johnson, 91, of Knoxville, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at a local health facility. She was a native of Appalachia, VA. She was a retired banker with First American Bank, at her time of retirement she was Assistant Vice President and manager of the Cumberland Avenue branch. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church. She was a member of the May Chapter #24 of the Order of The Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mollie Shepherd; husband, Kenneth E. Johnson; four sisters; and two brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis (Wesley Tobler) Johnson; grandsons, Daniel and Jeremiah; sister, Margie Cowan, of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 10, 2017, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at 7:00 p.m. at the Central United Methodist Church at 201 3rd Ave, Knoxville.
