Gene'o, as everyone called him, was a wonderful and loving husband, father, papaw, brother and friend. He was always there to help whomever asked and worked several side jobs after he retired because he could not sit still. He was helping Sherman Rickard or Fred Stansberry with jobs and enjoyed every minute of these projects. He spent time in the Army in Germany from 1954 until 1956 and was very proud of serving his country. He worked at American Enka for over 40 plus years and the Civic coliseum for 40 plus years. He never met a stranger and it seemed everywhere he went, he knew someone he was related to or worked with. My mom always said that they never went anywhere that he did not run into someone he knew. He was an avid UT fan and never missed listening to a game or watching one.
Geno'o was married to the love of his life for almost 63 years and is now reunited with her. He loved his granddaughter, who was the light of his life. He will be greatly missed by all that loved him dearly.
He is preceded in death by wife Betty J. Lusk; parents, Tom and Onia Lusk, brothers Jim (Lucille), JW (Catherine), Beecher (Jewel), Tommy (Liz) Lusk, Robert Lusk and brother-in-law, Darrell Wells; sisters, Mary Dukes and Dorothy Lynch (John Lynch and Walt Tarwater).
He is survived by his daughter Tracy Lusk; son, Michael and daughter-in-law Pennie Lusk; granddaughter, Ashlee; sisters, Betty Wells, Bonnie Underwood; sister-in-law, Pat Lusk and Bruce Dukes. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews that loved him dearly as he loved them as his own.
Thanks so much to Randy and Nora Freisen and his adopted granddaughters, as he called them, Ashley Adkins Hammer and Cassie Adkins, for whom he loved very much from the first time he met them. Thank you to Morristown Smoky Mountain Hospice for all they did to make sure he was taken care of.
There will be a private military service for family on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at the Veteran's Cemetery.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.mccartyevergreen.com for the Lusk family.
