Iva Geraldine (Jerry) Galyon, of South Knoxville and Seymour, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at the age of 83. Jerry was a lifetime, active member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church serving on the hostess committee and performing in the choir until health issues prevented her from serving. She was lovingly referred to as “Choir Mama” by many. Her deep faith in Jesus Christ and her humble, servant attitude endeared her to all.
Jerry is preceded in death by her mother and father, Avery and Bessie Ogle; sister, Jean Ogle Hutchens; nephew, Tommy Ogle.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years Gene Galyon; son, Ricky (Terri) Galyon; daughters, Pam Galyon and Suzanne (Curtis) Allin; niece, Cindy Ogle; grandchildren, Tyler (Kaci) Galyon, Kara (Brian) Howard, Curtis Allin and Taylor Allin; great-grandchildren, Ronan and Ainsley Galyon; great nephew, Thomas Ogle; great-great nephew, Trey Ogle, and best friends, Pam Wayman and Vi Wolfe.
A private graveside service will be held Sunday, January 10, 2021, 2:00pm at Woodlawn Cemetery, 4500 Woodlawn Pike, Knoxville, officiated by Rev. Chris Morgan. The family invites friends to share fond memories and sign the online guestbook at www.berryfuneralhome.com.
