

Jack P Crabtree Jr. passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Jack was a devoted Husband to his wife Dorothy for 58 years and a wonderful Father to his daughters Jackie, Jenny and Julia.
Jack grew up on a large farm in Sweetwater, TN. He excelled in his studies and graduated as valedictorian of Sweetwater High School at the age of 16 before attending the University of TN. Jack was a member of Farmhouse Fraternity. After graduating from UTK with a degree in Agriculture, Jack taught agriculture and then went on to ETSU to obtain another degree in Environmental Studies. Jack worked for the Knox County Health Department for several years. To further his education, he earned a master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma in Environmental Science. Jack commuted to Nashville from Knoxville for several years beginning his career with the State of Tennessee. Jack was employed for over 30 years and was the solid waste director for the East TN Department of Environment and Conservation.
Jack was a great asset to the community and supported various civic organizations thru the years. He was President of the Knoxville Jaycees and a member for several years. He was also President of the PTA when his children were younger.
After retirement from the State of TN, Jack continued to operate Hallmark Realty, since 1974, as a real estate Broker and property manager with his wife Dorothy. Jack was a custom home builder as well.
He loved sports and was an avid UT Vol fan, he enjoyed playing golf, spending time on the family farm in Sweetwater, TN and on his pontoon boat at Duncan Boat Dock. Jack was always present and interested in the welfare of his Children and Grandchildren. A source of strength, compassion and solid advice, a mentor to many.
Jack leaves behind his wife Dorothy and three daughters; Jackie, Jenny (Lee) and Julia (David). Grandchildren Katie (Nate), Taylor (our Angel), Ramsey, Andy, Cody, Emily and Ben and two Great Grandchildren, Isaac and Falco.

A visitation will be held for Jack on Monday, April 4, 2022 at Berry Highland Memorial Funeral Home from 5-7pm with a 7pm service to follow. A private family entombment will be held at Sherwood Chapel and Memorial Gardens.
