

JACK W. PIPER, JR., age 56, of Karns, passed away suddenly Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center. Jack was a devoted husband and loving father, and found no greater pleasure than being “Pop” to his only granddaughter. Jack was born June 18, 1959, in Burlington, North Carolina to Jeanette and Jack Piper Sr. He graduated from Karns High School in 1977, graduated from UT with a BA with high honors in 1981, and received his JD from the UT College of Law in 1984. On May 31, 1986, he married the former Kimberly R. James in Knoxville. Jack operated a successful law practice at the offices of Piper, Ramsey & Hill in Knoxville, garnering the respect of his peers and clients, alike. He enjoyed his work and helping others. When he was not working, Jack most loved spending time with his wife and their children and granddaughter. He also enjoyed sports cars, golf, and spending time in the mountains. Jack was a member of Grace Baptist Church, and served on the Board of Directors of the Karns Volunteer Fire Department. Jack is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Kim Piper; his parents Jack Sr. and Jeanette; his son Jack III (Jay) and wife Megan, his daughter Becca and husband Dustin Parrott, and son Alex; granddaughter Norah; brothers Jon (Robin) and Joel (Beth) Piper; nephews Josh, Michael, Austin, and Preston, and niece Taylor. Jack is also survived by Becky James, Al and Tina James, Alexa and Curtis Stoner, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 4-7 p.m. Saturday at Grace Baptist Church with the service to follow. Dr. Ron Stewart will officiate. Close family and friends will meet at 1:45 p.m. Sunday at Edgewood Cemetery for a 2 p.m. interment.
