Born in Arkansas, Janice carried her Southern strength, independence, and warm-hearted spirit throughout her life. She was a proud and vibrant member of the Red Hat Society, always ready with a smile, a story, or a deck of cards. Her love for card games brought her countless joyful hours with dear friends, and her green thumb made her garden a place of peace and beauty.
Janice had a deep love for adventure, especially traveling out west with her soul mate, Tony. Together, they shared countless memories on the open road, always seeking new sights and experiences. She also shared her passion for movement and joy through belly dancing, both as a performer and instructor—bringing confidence and celebration to others through her art.
Above all, Janice was devoted to her family. She was the best Grammy/Mimi anyone could ask for—loving, supportive, wise, and always there when needed. Her strength of will and heart knew no bounds. Her legacy of love, laughter, and fierce devotion lives on in the lives she touched.
Janice's family takes comfort in knowing she lived fully and loved deeply. She will be missed more than words can express.
She was preceded in death by her soul mate of 51 years, Tony Brown; son, Richard Brown; siblings: Garner Lawson, Naomi Lawson, James Lawson; parents, Elmer and Eunice Lawson; beloved in-laws, Jim and Kathryn Brown and Bennie and Billy Mullins.
Janice is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Jami and Brian Ward; son and daughter-in-law, Clint and Valeria Brown; grandchildren: Erin Marie Ward, Harley Brown, Logan Brown; sister-in-law, Libby Brown Faulkner; sister, Belinda Schmitz; brothers, Paul Lawson, Charlie Lawson; numerous beloved nieces, nephews and her Red Hat Friends.
