Jean Evelyn Pruitt, age 89, of Louisville, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord at her residence on Friday, August 1, 2025. A devoted woman of faith, Jean was a long-time member of South Knoxville Church of God, where she served her church family and community with unwavering dedication.
Jean’s love for the Lord was evident in every aspect of her life. For over 50 years, she faithfully taught Sunday School, instilling Biblical truths into generations of children and adults. She also served as church secretary for many years, sang joyfully with the ladies trio, and led the youth choir with passion and care. In her later years, she remained actively involved in the senior citizens ministry, where she was known for making delicious hot tamales which supported Barbourville Pentecostal Children's Home.
A true encourager, Jean was a joyful participant in the His Hands Extended card ministry, sharing God’s love through handwritten notes that brought comfort and encouragement to so many.
Jean also loved spending time in her garden, where she found peace and joy in God’s creation. She enjoyed canning the fruits of her labor to share with family and friends, and was a talented seamstress who lovingly sewed for her loved ones throughout the years. Her hands were always busy creating, serving, or comforting—always guided by love. Jean’s legacy is one of faith, love, and service. She leaves behind a beautiful example of a life well-lived in the Lord.
Above all, Jean loved her family deeply and unconditionally. Her greatest joy came from time spent with her loved ones—supporting them, praying for them, and celebrating every moment together.
Jean was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Charlie Pruitt; parents, Boyd and Lela Gann; sister, Helen Evans and brother, Raymond Gann.
She is survived by her 3 sons and daughters-in-law: Eddie (Kathy) Pruitt, Larry (Micki) Pruitt and Tim (Deborah) Pruitt; daughter and son-in-law, Susan (Randy) Bolinger; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and special friend Carolyn Tinsley.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to Jean’s caregivers, Brooklyn, BJ, Weslee, Melissa and LaDonna for their compassionate care, love, and support during her final days.
