Jesse A. Alston, age 88, of Seymour, went home to be with the Lord on April 13, 2018. Jesse was a math teacher for Knox County Schools for 30 years. His life passion was to share his love for Christ. He was an ordained minister and served as assistant pastor at Cold Springs Baptist Church for a number of years and remained a faithful member until his death. He was a combat veteran of the US Army and served during the Korean War. Jesse faithfully served as scout master of troop 585, Boy Scouts of America in Seymour during the 1970's and 1980's. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and woodworking. Preceded in death by wife, Doris Nell Alston; brothers, Alfred, Joe, and Andrew Alston; sister, Reva Golden and parents, Lee and Mae Alston. He is survived by his children, Mark Alston, Patty Mize and husband Wayne, Lisa Taylor and husband Greg and Richard Alston and wife Patricia; grandchildren, Benjamin Mize, Ashley Arnold, Nathan Mize, Jessica Carringer, Josh Alston, Megan Mayo, Patrick Alston, Drew Alston, Emily Taylor and Tabitha Alston; 11 great grandchildren; brother, David Alston and wife Peggy; brother-in-laws, Ralph Mink and wife Peggy and Bill Golden; special friend, Pat Campbell, sons of his heart, JT, James Ralph, Tony, Donald, and a host of lifetime friends. A celebration of life service will be held 7 pm Monday, April 16, 2018 in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Hickman officiating. Family and friends will meet 11am Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Berry Highland South Cemetery for graveside services. The family will receive friends 5-7 pm Monday at Berry Funeral Home.
