John was a devoted husband, step father, and friend whose steady presence and kind spirit touched the lives of all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 32 years, Evelyn “Dumpie” Coomer; his parents, Wilbert and Imogene Coomer; and other cherished family members who welcomed him home.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his stepsons, John Conner (Robyn) and Michael Conner, along with extended family members and dear friends who will remember his warmth, quiet strength, and unwavering love for his family.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the parlors of Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37920.
Family and friends will meet on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Woodlawn Cemetery, 4500 Woodlawn Pike, Knoxville, TN 37920, for a 2:00 PM Interment Service.
