Joseph “Joe” Messer, age 47, lost his battle with alcoholism January 15, 2016. Joe lived and loved hard and never met a stranger. He had numerous bad jokes to share and worse attempts at magic tricks. He is preceded in death by his step-father, Charlie Feagins; mother and father-in-law, Ernie and Flo Robertson; grandmother, Geneva Webb; furbabies, Mango and Zevon. Joe is survived by his wife of 23 years, Gail Robertson; mother, Rosie Feagins; brother, Stephen Messer; brother and sister in-law, Bryan and Tina Robertson; niece, Savannah Robertson; nephews, Bry and Reid Robertson; furbabies, Sophie, Joss, and Lilly; and numerous close friends he considered his family. The family will receive friends Friday, January 22, 2016 from 4:30-6:00 PM at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway, with a Celebration of Life to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Young Williams Animal Center, 3201 Division St, Knoxville, TN 37919.
