Joyce Hyder Lipscomb, born February 26, 1931 went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 7. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Lipscomb, her parents, Johnson and Gertrude Hyder and 2 brothers, Thurlo and Jerry Hyder.
Ms. Lipscomb is survived by her sons, Lynn Smith and Dan (Carol) Garrett. Grandchildren: Jeremy Smith, Nikki Smith, Danielle Garrett and Campbell Garrett, and great-grandchildren.
Joyce grew up in Harriman, attended Tennessee Tech and graduated from Draughon’s Business College. She worked with Drs. Cunningham and Sisk, and then spent many years with the Department of Human Services in Roane County and in Knoxville.
Ms. Lipscomb was a long-time member of First Christian Church in Harriman and then a member of West Towne Christian Church in Knoxville.
Visitation will take place at Berry Highland Memorial, 5315 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, 1:00-3:00 on Friday, February 9. Chapel service will be held at 3:00 p.m. with Dan Garrett officiating. Friends may leave their thoughts and memories at www.highlandmemorialknoxville.com.
