

She was born, January 14, 1956, in Cheverly, Maryland, the third child of Frank E. Rust and Hester Stockton. She grew up in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and graduated from Sevier County High School. She attended the University of Tennessee where she studied art.
She married the love of her life, Joe Campbell, on March 24, 1979. Together they had one daughter, Jessica, and two sons, Jason and Justin. She was a devoted wife and energetic mother. She loved to cook and enjoyed flowers and gardening.
She worked in the family’s needlepoint shop where she developed her love of fabric arts. She was always creative and discovering new ways to make beautiful and useful things, especially as gifts. Upon retiring as a bookkeeper she made quilts for family and friends. She also donated quilts to the East Tennessee Children’s Hospital on a regular basis giving comfort to little ones.
She worked at the Fabric Workshop in south Knoxville, helping people put together projects and supplies. She also helped to organize the Four Sisters Sewing School with dear friends Bev West, Rita Loveday, and Sue Carey. She was a compassionate caregiver to members of her family opening her home and her heart for the comfort of others.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Frank E. Rust and Hester Stockton; her sister Janet Stinnett and brother Paul David Rust; an infant daughter, Jessica. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Joe Campbell; her sons Jason and Justin; her brother Leslie; and nephews and a niece.
A celebration of life will be October 4th at 11:30am at the South Knoxville Community Center, 522 Maryville Pike, Knoxville, TN 37920.
