

Broome, June Ellen Johnson Atchley, age 77, of Knoxville, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2013. Preceded in death by father; Louis B. “Farmer” Johnson, mother; Louise Chattin Johnson, brother; Charles Edward Johnson, husband; former Knox County Trustee, Robert L. Broome. Surviving family, brother; David Louis Johnson and wife Kathy, sister-in-law; Charlotte Johnson, nephew; Mark Johnson and wife Lisa; daughter, Bambi “Linn” Atchley-Slocum, grandson; Joshua Slocum, son; Robert Louis “Rocky” Atchley and wife Lisa Graves Atchley; granddaughters Addie, Chattin and Nancianne Atchley. June came to Knoxville in 1950 when her father, “Farmer” Johnson, was hired by General Neyland to serve as UT’s defensive line coordinator. June graduated from Young High School, class of 1954 and worked for many years in the Knox County Trustee’s Office. The family wants to express sincere gratitude to dear friends, Suzanne Andrews Carlson, Barbara Phillips Smith and CJ Smith, Paul Wiseheart, Jan Hobby Smith, Tammy Griffin Crawford, Ruthie Burner and to the many caregivers at Atria Weston Place and Tennova Residential Hospice. Through the last four years of June’s illness, she was the perfect patient. She never complained and retained a good sense of humor. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at 6:00 PM in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home followed by the receiving of friends. Family and friends will meet on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 1:30 PM at Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 5901 Lyons View Pike Knoxville, TN 37919 for the interment. Arrangements by Berry Funeral Home.
