It is with the heaviest hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Lawrence George Bonito. Larry “Tuna”, the greatest and most devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend; the funniest and most sincere car salesman that everyone loved so much. The greatest man, period.
Larry was born in The Bronx, NY and raised in Yonkers, NY by his adoring parents, John and Adeline Bonito. He gave his siblings, Mary Anne Colainni, John Bonito and twin Richard a run for their money growing up. He was a brilliant student and a music enthusiast. His love of rock and roll led him to help form one of Yonkers' best known local bands of the 60s, Satan's Helpers, for which he played bass guitar and had such pride for.
Larry went on to marry the love of his life, Kim DeMario, in 1982; their 41 year marriage an incredible example to their children who idolized him. Larry had a passion for Subarus and sold them both in Yonkers, NY and Knoxville, TN. He loved the cars as much as he loved his customers – they always returned to see him, even years later.
He was the most hard-working, loving family man who put everyone before himself his entire life. He had the best sense of humor and the ability to make anyone laugh. Sunday dinners with his family were the highlight of his week. He loved music, movies, football, and all the holidays – especially Christmas.
He will be missed beyond words. The world is a darker place without him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Adeline Bonito. He is survived by his beautiful wife, Kim Bonito; daughters, Kristen Orsen, Jamie Lucas, Jana Martin, Carlee Gibson and Kayla Bonito; grandchildren, Savannah Orsen, Jillian Lucas, Sophie Lucas, Oliver Martin, Isabelle Martin, Olivia Gibson and Lexie Gibson; siblings Mary Anne Colaianni, John Bonito and twin brother Richard Bonito.
The family will honor Lawrence at a later date with private services. Online condolences and fond memories may be shared with the Bonito family at www.BerryHighlandWest.com.
