
Lawrence Lee Simpson, age 78, of Powell, passed away on Thursday, July 10th, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Lawrence was a member of Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church and worked for Dempster Brothers for more than 30 years. He was a member of the United States Bowling Congress for more than 40 years. He held numerous offices on both the local and state level. In 1995, Lawrence was inducted into the Greater Knoxville Bowling Association Hall of Fame. He is preceded in death by parents, Fred and Dovie Simpson, siblings, Dowell Simpson, Mary Ellen Stephenson, and Raymond Simpson. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Doris Simpson, children, Larry Simpson, and wife Carla, and Debbie Wampler, granddaughter, Diane Edens, and husband Eric, siblings, Nancy Garrett and Tommy Simpson, and wife Rose, and several nieces, nephews and loving friends. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 13th, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Highland West Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Monday, July 14th, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Woodhaven Cemetery, Edgemoore Road.
