Margaret Deane Burgin

Burgin, Margaret Deane, age 87, of South Knoxville, passed away October 16, 2014. She was owner and operator of Burgin Florist and Terry Suzanne Fashions Childrens Shop and helped manage Polly Bergen Fashions. Margaret was a member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church for 69 years, where she was active in the Childrens Ministry as a teacher for over 40+ years. Margaret enjoyed directing and floral arrangements for Weddings all over Knoxville. She was a very accomplished seamstress. She was also a member of Knoxville Miniature Society and was an award winning artist. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas M. Byrd and Hazel Deane White Byrd; brothers, Tom Byrd, Jr. and Robert Byrd. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, J. N. Burgin; daughters: Terry Burgin Hyder and husband, Les; and Cathy Burgin Martin; grandchildren: Brian and Tim Hyder, Amy Lafayette, Suzanne Sanders, and Katie McInnis; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Lynn Newman and husband, Darden; several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Sevier Heights Baptist Church Sewing Missions for Haiti, 3232 Alcoa Highway, Knoxville, Tennessee 37920. Family will receive friends on Saturday, October 18, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM, Rev. Charlie McNutt, Rev. Don Wilson, and Rev. Paul Sanders officiating. Family and friends will meet at 1:00 PM Sunday at Woodlawn Cemetery for the interment. Pallbearers will be Steve Burgin, Randy Burgin, Dale Rhoton, Roger Sayne, Rick Lafayette, Paul Sanders, and Taylor McInnis. Arrangements by Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway.
