Margaret Ann Wright, born September 24, 1937, passed away peacefully on April 19th, 2026. Although she is deeply missed by her family, we reflect on the long, beautiful, and adventurous life she lived and are thankful for the many memories she gave us.
Margaret lived a life on her terms, proudly strong and independent. Though she was tough, she had the most sensitive, kindest heart that was evident in how deeply she loved her family. Her kindness, warmth, and joyful spirit will live on in all who knew and loved her.
She was a wonderful mother and was incredibly proud of the man her son grew to be. Lovingly known as “Nanny”, Margaret loved her grandkids and great-grandkids and would talk about them to anyone who would listen.
Margaret had a true gift for storytelling. She was known for having the best stories, full of humor and heart. Whether she was sharing memories or simply making people laugh, she had a way of bringing others together and making every moment joyful.
In her earlier years, you would most likely find her on the softball field, camping with her husband and son, or waterskiing at the lake. Later in life, Margaret loved traveling and exploring new places with her beloved husband, Bob. She especially enjoyed going on cruises and taking road trips in their motor home.
In more recent years, you could find her enjoying a cup of tea and her favorite cookies and was always diving into a new book. She was a diehard Tennessee Vols fan and rarely missed watching a football game.
Margaret was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church for several years. She loved the Lord and her eyes lit up every time she talked about Jesus. She looked forward to the day she would meet Him face to face.
Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wright, whom she never stopped missing after all these years. We find much joy knowing that they are reunited again. She is also preceded in death by her father, Daniel Wise, mother, Martha Haynes, step-father, Bill Haynes, brothers and sisters, Edna Lade, Estel Wise, Ralph Wise, D.W. Wise Jr., Betty Day, Peggy Reed. She is survived by her brother, Mike Wise, her beloved son, Jeffrey Scott Wright and daughter-in-law, Beth, granddaughters Christy (Reinhard) Kampf and Kimberly (Nick) Gautreaux, grandson Wes Oden, and great-grandchildren, Nathan, Braden, Madelyn, Mackenzie, and Ethan.
Visitation will be held at Weaver Funeral Home, 5815 Western Ave, Knoxville, TN 37921, US, on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
A graveside service will take place at Edgewood Cemetery, 219 S Gallaher View Rd, Knoxville, TN 37919, on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
