

Mary Louise Voss Chandler, 92, of Rockledge, FL, died September 1, 2014, in Sevierville, TN. Born June 30, 1922, in Galion, Ohio; she was the daughter of the late John H. and Christina Zeller Voss. Her husband of 55 years, Clement F. (Clem) Chandler, preceded her in death along with her brother, John Carl Voss. Survivors, all of whom she dearly loved: daughter, Mary Ann (Howard) Balthaser of Rockledge, FL, and more recently Sevierville, TN; son, Gary (Kathryn) Chandler of Houston, TX; four grandchildren—Mary Kathryn Balthaser of Louisville, KY, Haui (Amy Hadley)Balthaser of Winter Springs, FL, Beth (James) Cahill of Harrisonburg, VA, Brian (Susan) Chandler of Temple, TX; and four great-grandchildren—Aidan and Colin Cahill, Patrick Chandler, and Ella Hadley.
Mary Lou came to the Cocoa-Rockledge area in 1948. Prior to coming to Central Brevard, in Galion, OH, she was Secretary of the American Automobile Association and Executive Secretary at the North Electric Manufacturing Co., a subsidiary of ITT. In Cocoa-Rockledge, she was Assistant Personnel Manager at the Sears store in Rockledge, and a partner with her husband C.F. Chandler in realty and home-building businesses.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rockledge where she was always very active with volunteer work, including Helping Hands. She was a member of the Founders Circle of The Cocoa-Rockledge Garden Club, and Honorary Ambassador for Cocoa Beach Regional Chamber of Commerce. She was an antique collector and dealer, a quilter, and an artist.
To her many friends she will be remembered for her vibrant personality and her great love and caring for people. Mary Lou was affectionately known as “Nina” to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many friends and relatives.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Rockledge, on Saturday, September 13th at 11 a.m. A Rosary service will begin at 5:00 p.m., followed by Visitation with friends from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. the prior evening, Friday, September 12th at Life Event Center at Florida Memorial. Burial will be at Florida Memorial Gardens of Rockledge following Saturday’s Mass. Highland South Funeral Home, Knoxville, TN and, Life Event Center at Florida Memorial are in charge of arrangements.
