Mary Jane Hinton

Mary Jane Lones Hinton, 92, of Knoxville passed away on October 9, 2015. She was a long time resident of the Karns community and a member of Grace Baptist Church. After graduating from Karns High School and Draughn’s Business College, she worked in the office of Standard Knitting Mill and spent 20 years as the school secretary at Powell Elementary School. She was married to Earl Hinton for almost 72 years. Earl and Mary Jane had two sons, Ray (Jeannie) of Knoxville and Gary (Helen) of Chilhowie, Virginia. Mary Jane was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was loved by everyone who met her. The family would like to thank the staff at Tennova Hospice in Halls and the staff at Maple Court Senior Assisted Living in Powell for their wonderful loving care.

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; sister, Frances Green; brother, Joe Lones; parents, Henry and Mary Guinn Lones. She is survived by sons Ray and Gary; grandson Caleb (Rachel) Hinton of Washington, D.C.; granddaughter Jodie Marie Hinton of Knoxville; brother-in-law Troy Hinton; sister-in-law Betty Hinton; several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will meet at Highland Memorial Gardens, Sutherland Avenue, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 for a graveside service, with Reverend Ronnie Arnold officiating.
